Menu Design

A key contributor in my design process for making a new menu for Storm Castle Cafe was the effective use of grid and hierarchy. With limiting factors of no color and no imagery, our typographic knowledge was put to the test. In my first design the menu is separated in a dual column system with all dishes falling under the necessary headings. In my second design, the information is displayed in a combination of two and three columns. In both designs I wanted to efficiently use white space in the margins and gutters to separate the information and portray an organized design.

In both designs I emphasize legibility and reading order using two separate devices. On the menu on the left I utilize a two column system and on the left I use a black underlying bar to differentiate each section.
